FLOORING CARE with Furniture

Finding the right flooring care that is simple and efficient, yet doesn’t take you all afternoon to clean, is what hardwood flooring is all about. Hardwood floors are absolutely beautiful with simple, but good flooring care. Taking care of your flooring on a daily basis will keep the shine and brilliance ’round the clock.

People who love hardwood floors, typically have furniture that compliments the hardwood. This could mean quality leather sofas, chairs, or wooden tables and bookcases, all with a design that is complementary to hardwood.

Hardwood flooring is not like vinyl or tile. They were once living trees, so the planks are not perfect or identical, and the grain is often uneven, but it is easy to clean. The dirt and dust hides in the grain, but to eliminate this problem, simply purchase a high quality broom, so that you can quickly sweep everyday to keep the dirt out. This is all the flooring care you typically need to keep your floors looking unique and beautiful.

There are a few do’s and don’ts to remember when cleaning your exquisite hardwood. Never use a wet mop, with ammonia, cleaners, or any method where the hardwood gets excessively wet. This is for two reasons. First, these cleaners will make your flooring look dull and cloudy. Secondly, since wood is sustainable, and it has been alive, and there are tendencies that remain. When wood gets wet, it expands, so the planks in your flooring would expand and lose shape.

Most owners with hardwood seem to want to wax the floor, like you do wood or balsam furniture. This is not a good idea because it also clouds the urethane finish. If you have a spill, simply use a damp cloth to wipe it up.

All hardwood floors eventually fade from the sun and tracks that are worn through. When your floor gets to this stage, it’s time to rejuvenate it and bring it back to life. A screening process takes off the old urethane finish, so you can then add a few new coats. Your floors will look regain their beautiful shine.

If the floor has been destroyed by sun and traffic, it will take sanding the planks to even the boards again, and then an application of two to three coats of urethane can bring the shine back. These processes only need to be done every five years, so enjoy your hardwood, it’s exquisite and easycare flooring to have.
